2018년 2월 23일, 콩고민주공화국, 남수단 국민들과 세계 평화를 위한 단식과 기도의 날로 선포

프란치스코 교황님께서 2018년 2월 4일(일) 삼종기도 다음에 사순 제1주간 금요일(2018년 2월 23일)을 전쟁으로 고통 받고 있는 콩고민주공화국, 남수단 국민들과, 세계 평화를 위한 특별 단식과 기도의 날을 선포하시며, 세계 모든 가톨릭 신자들과 모든 선한 이들이 하느님께 자비를 간구하는 데에 동참하여 줄 것을 요청하셨습니다.

And now an announcement. Faced with the tragic continuation of conflict in several parts of the world, I invite all faithful to a special Day of prayer and fasting for peace on this coming 23 February, Friday of the First Week of Lent. We will offer this in particular to the populations of the Democratic Republic of the Congo and of South Sudan. As on other similar occasions, I also invite non-Catholic and non-Christian brothers and sisters to participate in this initiative in the ways they consider most appropriate, but all together.

As is known, during the Angelus prayer on Sunday 4 February, His Holiness Pope Francis announced that Friday 23 February will be a Day of prayer and fasting for peace, in particular for the populations of the Democratic Republic of the Congo and South Sudan.

The Holy Father also invited the members of other religions to join in the initiative, in the forms they consider most suitable. The Pontifical Council for Interreligious Dialogue, aware that religions can contribute greatly to obtaining and consolidating peace, will be grateful to the brothers and sisters of other religions who wish to heed this appeal and to live moments of prayer, fasting and reflection in accordance with their own tradition and in their own places of worship.
